Empty Promises

Oh Blog. How I have abused and abandoned you.

I made empty promise after empty promise to tend to your upkeep.

I am here to make a new set of possibly empty promises to you so that you will not leave me and wander the Tubes like the orphan I have forced you to become.

It begins with a makeover.
WordPress 2.5 was released yesterday. I am going to upgrade your system. Hopefully, your little plug-in play-friends will cooperate.

Next comes the meal of content.
When I started you, oh little blog, I wanted to make you accessible to my friends who are mostly not into many of the same subjects that you and I are interested. I wanted to make the point that I was an interesting person beyond these things. No longer. I can no more deny who we are than I could go without ketchup accompanying nearly all of my meals. No more deny the random musings held inside than I could stay awake for an entire work day. I can no more deny the child-like fascination beholden to my interests than reduce my caloric intake for a day.

Prepare yourselves, netizens!

I am going to blog about toys.*

*Note: This is in addition to the infrequent and witty posts already contributed. Sure to be just as infrequent.

Wishlist updated 2007.11.10

I updated my wishlist with some more relevant items. I put the most recent and relevant items at the top and separated the rest with a horizontal line. Anything below that line is from the past and I haven’t gone through to see if they are still relevant. I’ll get to that eventually. One thing at a time.

WordPress 2.1

FightingReality is now on WordPress 2.1. It is fantastically full of some new features that I’ve wanted both in this version and the previous couple I skipped. I can even do automated backups. Unfortunately the backup plugin doesn’t come default anymore so I had to manually install it. Otherwise it was a completely smooth upgrade.

I’ll most likely be upgrading Powet.TV to this version within the next couple of weeks.

Vacation is Over

‘No rest for the wary’ is right. I’ve been back from the cruise for 16 days and back to work for about 14. I haven’t even had time to update this blog. I have lots of pictures to upload from both the cruise and New Years at the Braintree House. I have a couple of video, too. Lots and lots to get done over the next couple of weeks.

Its a new year. New goals to meet, new desires to strive for and new bad habits to break.

Time’s a-tickin’!

Botcon 2006 Gallery posted

Pictures are up from last weekend’s convention in Lexington, Kentucky. I will say that I am embarassed at how few pictures I took of people. Most especially the fact, that we never got a group shot since we try to do one each year. Most disappointing.

Enjoy what there is. You can see them here.

Here’s some of the non-Transformer stuff I got:

To give you an idea of size, most of those figures are 6 inch Marvel Legends figures.

Ills of maintenance

Last night some maintenance was done to the server that this site resides on. mySQL was upgraded to a newer version. Since then I have attempted to load this page and found the database to be inaccessible on 4 separate occassions. I have gotten on a live chat with support each time and the database was brought back up. I’m not sure whats going on, but be aware the site is having some issues at the moment. Fortunately, support has been very responsive, but I’d rather not have to contact them in the first place.

Missing Convention Pictures

Botcon 2006 is less than a week away. I have a number of pre-convention rituals and one of them is reviewing pictures from prior years. Since I missed last year’s Botcon in Texas, I clearly have not looked at the Botcon pictures in a while. While browsing through the site today I realized that I never uploaded any pictures taken prior to 2005. So all those vast galleries of friends, toys and nonsense are denied to you, the reader. Naturally, this must be rectified and I am going to try and upload as many of the galleries as I can prior to my departure on October 27th (3 days left and counting!).
