Link Dump 2008.11.14

This linked dump started many months ago and I never finished compiling it. Rather than start over with a new one I just updated the old draft with the current date and some newer links after the originals.

Famous Marvel Buildings and their real-life equivalents – I saw this and thought it was neat. This guy went to the addresses of some buildings such as the Baxter Building (Fantastic Four), The Daily Bugle (Spider-man) and Strange’s Sanctorum (Dr. Strange) and took a picture of the actual buildings residing there.
Link.

One of the books I’ve been reading fanatically has been the Immortal Iron Fist from Marvel. ‘The Last Iron Fist’ story is now one of my all time favorites. Brendan linked me to some line art that had been done for the book. Neat stuff.
Link.

Swimsuits appearing at the past Olympics and tested by NASA – I thought this was pretty neat.
Link.

Fanboy has made it into the dictionary.
Link.

The back of Yulia Tymoshenko’s head. This is a really prominent politician in the Ukraine. She apparently is known for her style. Her current hair-do involves a thick braid wrapped around the back of her head making it look like a crown. Its actually pretty neat, but I don’t see how that can all be real hair judging by the constant thickness of the braid throughout its length.
Link.

And now to reaffirm my masculinity:
The expanded beard chart.
Link.

My Little Pony Customs. This is some really impressive kitbashing. I think my favorites are MyLittleStormtrooper (pictured above) and My Little Alien.
Link.

Barack Obama has released a flickr set of photos from election night. It really gives a personal view of events as they happened from his end of the spectrum. Its a fascinating set of photos.

Reverse Graffiti – This is really cool. They made a mural by cleaning a wall instead of painting it.

Salmon Hentai – be afraid!
Link.

Lego Digital Designer – This is really cool. Its like AutoCAD, but for Legos. There are over 750 brick types with which to manipulate, design and create.
Link

NES Emulator as a Firefox Extension – The site is in spanish (?), but just click the link that says “Instalar FireNes”.
Link.

IsMyLCDOk – This is a little app that will run a large battery of tests against your lcd monitor to test if you have any dead pixels. Lifehacker.com also has some posts about fixing issues here.
Link.

Recover passwords free – Lifehacker put up a post on some free utlities that can allow you to recover some of your forgotten passwords.
Link.

Ninja Easter Egg in Google Reader! – This is awesome. I just wish the color wasn’t so dark because it makes the text difficult to read.

This is a short one, but the items in this link dump contain links I came across while searching for pieces to my costume for Otakon 2006.

[EDIT – I’ll be honest this link dump had at least 7 different links in it. I’m not sure exactly what happened but now most of them are gone and I don’t know what they were. I’ll try to figure it out. Sorry about that! Guess I might be upgrading sooner than I expected… -Crazy]

Here is you link dump for March 1, 2006.

Katamari in real life! For those not in the know, Katamari is a game where there is an odd looking character that basically rolls stuff into a ball, but when I say stuff, I’m talking lawn ornaments, cars, whatever is in the way.

Link Dump 2005.10.13

Haven’t had one of these in a while.

I have decided to switch my RSS aggregator from FeedDemon to the Sage FireFox extension. Its incredibly simple, free and user-friendly once you figure it out. Since I always have Firefox open, I won’t need another program sucking up resources in my icon tray.

Link.

I was finally able to see Corpse Bride last week and was delighted with the feature. I loved the story in addition to the medium. I found this cool article on the making of the movie on digg. First movie made entirely from a digital still camera (not video).

Link.

Since we’re on the subject of stop motion animation, Shipley sent me a cool video someone made in stop motion animation. The sound/voices kinda suck, but the video is pretty cool.

I was so inspired by these I made this cool gif after snapping some photos.

Christy sent me this funny comic, but you won’t get it if your not both a Harry Potter and FullMetal Alchemist fan.
