A very Braintree weekend

This weekend was highly entertaining to say the least.

Friday
Friday was a tough day at work, but I’ve been having a lot of those lately. After work I hurried home because Coach was taking whole house out to dinner to celebrate his first signing as a sports agent. Eddie was over Linda’s and Juliet was going out elsewhere so it was just the six of us. Jay, Coach, Greg, Mike, Tom, and myself. We went to this really nice restaurant called Venencia, I think. Really upscale italian place. My mom commented later on that she thought it was easily a place Tony Soprano would go to eat. We got appetizers and passed them around the table for all to try. I tried calamari for the first time and it was actually quite good. The crab cakes were also tasty. My entree was tortelini and chicken in an alfredo sauce. Probably some of the best tortelini and chicken i’ve ever had. I couldn’t even it all either. Then we got dessert, which happened to be ice cream that Jay’s dad’s business supplies to them. Good stuff.

Saturday
Most of the day was spent getting ready for the snow storm that was going to start around 5pm. Mike and Eddie returned all our empty bottles from last time and stocked up on food. I had to go home and get some stuff from my parents. Mike called Greg and Tom while they were at work to let them know the gameplan for the weekend. We then invited a bunch of people over to be snowed in with us for the night. Sloppy Joes were made with tater tots and steak fries. We all watched some TV and then played Team trivial pursuit. Every time one team got a pie piece the other team had to take a shot. 4 shots later for my team alone, everyone pretty much stopped playing. Some people went downstairs to play Beirut, while others…well…i’ll be honest I don’t remember what else we did. I know I didn’t play beirut. oh well.

Sunday
About 20 inches of snow later. I finally got out of bed with a slight hangover around 11am. I walked upstairs to a smoke filled kitchen and found Greg making bacon and eggs for everyone and everyone else crowded around him, in the dining room, or the living room. Noone was really upstairs anymore. After a while Greg and Tom went out to play snow football but ended up shoveling instead. I watched merrily from the window. After more people started going out to help and Jay got the snowblower running I went out too. We had probably about 12 or 13 cars in the driveway ( which took a lot of organization in the first place) so we had to clean them off and shift them about without getting in the way of the street plows which continued to bury us in with every pass. There were about 4 of us shoveling plus Coach doing what he does, coaching and coordinating which turned out to be fairly effective. Mike and Tina made us hot coacoa. Many a laugh was had, mostly at my expensive, but that seems to be a running trend lately.

After we were done, Tom, Greg and I played catch for a little while with the football leading each other into the snow banks as we threw the ball. When we came in the Philly/Atlanta football game was starting. We watched that while some people made food downstairs and Chris made food upstairs. There were buffalo wings (hot!), swedish meatballs, and nachos made by Tom coaxed by coach. Most of the food was ready just in time for the big Patriots game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. It was a great game and the Pats won and are on their way to their third SuperBowl in 4 years. We will play the Philadelphia Eagles. I like how successful the Pats are but at the same time I feel kinda dirty because I think we are becoming the Yankees of football. I like to tell myself that its ok because its a true team effort and not just a bunch of overpaid superstars, but whatever. Winning is cool after losing for so long before these streaks of late.

Monday
Today I’m working from home because of all the snow we got. Its causing a lot transportation delays and making it really hard to get into the city. I think most of the office is out today anyway.
