I have the powet!

I picked up MOTUC He-Man and Beastman from MattyCollector.com when they went on sale last month. Only got around to opening them today. Much better figures than I had anticipated. Mattel has screwed the pooch promoting it, but the figures stand up for themselves. They’ve been getting glowing reviews and its no wonder. Skeletor goes on sale on January 15th. Definitely going to have to pick one up for myself.

I meant to film an entire episode of PowetToys today, but all I ended up doing was playing with the figures and making this stop motion animation video. Not bad considering I wasn’t completely focused on it. I bet I could do a much better one if I planned it out…

Spider Rent

While writing out my rent and utility checks, my girlfriend, whom I was on the phone with at the time, instant messaged me this article. It details the email correspondence between a bill collector and someone she is tasked with to pursue on a late bill. I rarely laugh out loud while staring at this monitor by myself, but in this case, I had more trouble stopping myself from laughing.

Thanks to Brenna for the link!

[Edit – Crazy: I posted a bad link. Fixed it.]

[Edit 2 – Crazy: Looks like News.com.au got an interview with this guy. Link.]

L'Shana Tova

Someone linked to this on facebook and I felt obligated to link to it here with Rosh Hashannah coming up.

For all the goyim:
Rosh = Head
Ha (prefix) = The
Shana/Shannah = Year
Rosh Hashannah = Head of the Year / New Year
Tova = Good / Happy
L’ (prefix) = To
L’ Shana Tova = To a good year!

The Power of Snap

Quality I possess something I’m fresh
When my voice goes through the rest
Of the microphone that I am holdin’
Copywritten lyrics so they can’t be stolen
If they are snap
Don’t need the police to try to save them
Your voice will sink so please stay off my back
Or I will attack and you don’t want that

-Snap “Power”

Its as if he knew I would want to download this song over fifteen years later…

Do you think he has a way to keep track of who steals his lyrics and travels cross country, going door-to-door handing out beatdowns?

*Ding Dong*

Oh! Snap!

Captain Napkin

Every week after frisbee on Saturdays, we head over to a local ice cream place, Sammy Jos, and get some delectable frozen treats. We go so regularly that we know two of the girls who work there nearly every week pretty well. Brendan, Thanh and I usually stay a bit longer than the others so we may discuss nerdly things and trade pokemon and action figures. We’re cool like that.

One Saturday we were especially bored and enterprising. Kate, one of the girls who works there, was absolutely failing to entertain us sufficiently and was hiding in the back so she didn’t have to do any work. We had to entertain ourselves. That is, until Captain Napkin nipped that boredom in the bud!

Yeah, we did.

He enjoyed some ice cream with Ken and Ryu from Street Fighter.

After a bit, he was getting a little cheeky, though.

He took a liking to Steph.

Hunting the Feisty Fawn

Ubuntu logo small

I have finally taken that large leap that I’ve been saying I wanted to take for quite a long time.

No, I have not quit my job to live off the fat of the land…yet.

I installed Linux on my laptop!

I know, not quite the huge leap you were expecting. More like the thing the everyone tones out when I speak because I’ve stated it so many times passively. While I was at Otakon though, Joaquin had a really nice setup on his laptop and he explained it a little to me. I was very interested, so when I got home I downloaded everything I needed to install Ubuntu 7.04 the Fiesty Fawn release. I ended up wiping my laptop and reloading Windows XP, then installed Ubuntu as another boot option. That way when I start up my computer I can either go into Windows or into Ubuntu. Neat!

Ubuntu comes with a lot of helpful applications, but at some point I knew I’d need to install something else, so I wanted to figure out how sooner than later. I looked up a list of top Ubuntu programs to install after you’ve loaded the OS. Number eleven on that list was a game; Frozen Bubble. I figured it was as good as any a place to start, so I managed to get it loaded and installed. I fired it up and lo and behold, what game is it, but a linux version of Snood, the most addictive, awful game ever created.

Goodbye productivity. I’m on level 63 right now. -_-

Nurse Me

I have spent the last three days penned up in my room because I’ve been pretty sick. I worked from home Thursday and Friday only because one person was depending on my help. Thursday was a real struggle. I was practically dozing off in my chair when I wasn’t finishing off another box of tissues. One of my roommates and his girlfriend went grocery shopping in the evening and were quite thoughtful enough to try and cheer me up by getting me a big vat of chocolate chip cookies. They know me far too well. I brightened right up and inhaled 4 cookies.

They were delicious! I finished them off for breakfast this morning. Yum!

Last night, my parents came by and dropped off a big vat of soup that my mom made and some groceries since I’ve been sick since I got back from Otakon and haven’t had time to go shopping. They couldn’t come in because we can’t risk my dad getting sick. He had eye surgery on Monday so no need tempting fate. He looks fine and seems to be recovering his vision quite well.

Most of you won’t know the reference, but Nurse Me is actually the name of a Hentai. It was the hentai used for Dick and Buster’s Hentai Extravaganza panel at AnimeBoston two years ago. It was used for live dubbing. There are few things I will experience funnier than what I was a witness to that night. I don’t remember what the hentai was about, but thats not really important (is it ever?) After getting special attention the past two nights, I figured I deserved some attention tonight. Third time’s the charm as they say.

Sadly, noone is really around and I have nothing but this computer and a connection to the internet to entertain me.

I think I’ll go watch some hentai.

Otakon 2007

I returned from Otakon 2007 on Monday. It was a blast as always with some new faces and plenty of familiar faces.

I put up a gallery of the photos here. I have to say that I definitely did not take nearly the number of photos I normally take. I’m not sure if its because I’ve been to a number of conventions now and i’m not as easily impressed or attentive to a lot of costumes now or if its because I just wasn’t getting out there looking for good ones like I have in the past. Either way, there were definitely some good ones all the same.

Brenna was there and on Sunday she dressed up as a character from Naruto. Her character, Karin, is on the same team as Sasuke, who I was cosplaying as. Here is a picture of the two of us in costume.
